When it comes to your wedding, not all the drama has to come from your family, friends and the wedding party and not all drama is bad. Over the past year, I’ve fallen in the love with different weddings that have taken that extra step to glam up their weddings by making bold, sophisticated and dramatic statements.

Sometimes you don’t need to give yourself a headache and figure out all the little details that will make your wedding glisten and glimmer. Sometimes it’s just about being brave, taking a chance, and choosing a larger piece – creating something unique and breathtaking to make your guests “oooh” and “ahhh”.
I find that keeping your colors simple, clean and white can be oh so glamorous.

When I saw this table setting shared by www.ever-ours.com, I instantly fell in love.  Crisp, clean, white and elegant – nothing brings more drama to this beautiful table setting then the white linens against glimmering glassware, and the beautiful floating flowers hanging in the air as if by magic.

Varied elements for a dramatic piece for oh, so glamorous wedding theme – whether it’s using floral arrangements, lighting, or glassware, each dramatic piece can help set the mood or create a perfect finish to a wedding style you call your own.

From magical, romantic and whimsical to elegant, dazzling and sensational, pick something that will leave your guests thinking about your wedding for years to come.

Here are a few pieces that left me speechless. Enjoy!

When we think of how to glamour up our wedding and really make it sparkle, the first things that come to mind are:

  1. Jewelry
  2. Dress
  3. Accessories (veil, hair, etc)
  4. Invitations
  5. Favors

We figure these are the key elements of our wedding that guests will notice the most.   But  really, the most uncommon things can add *bling* but remain elegant and timeless.  Your floral decorations and bouquet could make such an extravagant difference with a little bit of glitter or maybe even some diamonds.

When added to your floral arrangements, the results are absolutely stunning, unique and elegant.  How awesome is that?!

Here are a few ways to bling out out your floral decor!  Have other suggestions? Post your comments below!

There’s a certain type of bride that loves to incorporate high-drama and glamour throughout her special day. When done the right way, that’s my kind of bride!

You may ask your florist to design centerpieces and bouquet with a sprinkling of jewels. You could have  your handmade invites bejeweled.  Or you can even adorn your table settings, linens and desert station with encrusted accents.  The possibilities to glam up your day are endless.

The most classic way, however, to be glitzy glam on your wedding day is to find a dress that shines – literally!

Here are of my favorite looks from the top designer collections of  Fall 2011 incorporating the right amount of bling for any bride’s taste.

For the princess bride favoring a ball gown shaped gown:

Trumpet style gowns hug the body at the top and through the hips but jets out into a fuller skirt at the bottom.

If you haven’t noticed, this weeks theme is all about allowing music to inspire your creative prowess! So, needless to say, when I came across this Motown inspired wedding I had to share!  I’m a huge fan of a unique wedding theme, but when you’re planning an event as important as your wedding day, you want to proceed with caution with certian ideas so that it doesn’t come across too cheesy.

You’ve seen this happen… I know I’m not the only one ;)

So check out these fab images of how a Michigan couple pulled off a Motown themed wedding with the help of Senor Senora and Parker Photographic!

BTW – Carrie at Senor Senora is running a holiday promotion on all orders until January 7th 2011 … just use promo code 10OFF-HOLIDAZE at check out.  If you’re planning a theme similar to this one, or something totally unique, definitely hop on over to www.senorsenora.com for tons of great ideas and unique paper goods.  On of my favorites – without question!

For many couples, picking music for your wedding can be difficult and somewhat overwhelming.  What songs are appropriate?  Which songs will set the tone?  Do I have to pick only one genre or can I mix it up? What ACTUALLY will work at my wedding?

The answer: Jazz never fails.

A lot of people have a huge misconception of Jazz, and I used to be one of them.  It’s either too old school or some feel like it doesn’t go along with their other musical choices.  All I can say is, no way Jose.  Jazz is actually so much a part of the music that we enjoy today, and has greatly impacted music in the past.  It can go from spunky and fun to mellow and romantic.  You can throw it in to any mixture of songs and it fits perfectly, if not too perfectly.  (And too perfect is NEVER a bad thing!)

You can set the tone with some “Come Rain or Come Shine” by Bette Midler, to  “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole, to “Flamenco Sketches” by Miles Davis.  Jazz can be purely instrumental or lyrical.  Each beat, instrument, and/or word has a purpose for that specific song.  If you really listen to it, you can feel and hear what the meaning is to you and your soon-to-be.  Jazz is so versatile and up for interpretation that you can make it mean whatever you feel it to be.  How great is that?!  Your first dance can be so much more meaningful just based on the fact that a specific song moves you in a way that no one else can understand but only see and feel.

I say, borrow a Jazz CD (or download it on Itunes), or go to a concert.  I promise you won’t be disappointed, but rather pleasantly surprised.  A live Jazz band can be extremely classy and really exciting at the same time.  If a live band isn’t for you or too expensive, throw some songs at your DJ.  Your guests will love it.

Whether you want it to set an elegant tone with some soft Jazz or Blues, or you want to get down on the floor with your besties to some Bebop or Swing tunes, you wont go wrong.  Jazz is definitely a crowd pleaser for all ages.

Music inspires us in so many ways and aspects of our lives.  When thinking of a theme for your wedding consider incorporating your favorite type of music.  Certain tunes tend to make you think of cute little cocktail dress, an outing you remember enjoying, or even that perfect mood you were in on your last jaunt to the Caribbean and can definitely set the mood!  If you can’t swing a wedding getaway – bring the island-vibe to you using Reggae as your inspiration.

Here are a few tips on how to do just that:

1. Give your DJ a play list infusing reggae and island music from artists like Bob Marley, Trinity and Barrington Levy.

2. If it’s live music you want, hire a band that specializes in reggae.  Try sites like Band Mix and Gig Masters to aid your search

3. Easily infuse the feel of the Caribbean into your day through the little details.  Here are a few super-cute ways to thread the reggae feeling throughout your day:

Color Palette:

Customize your invitations, programs and other wedding stationary with the colors the islands like these handmade embroidered invites by Jar of Ideas, escort cards with yellow border and scroll detail, and adorable red dessert table signage!

Consider using citrus or other island fruits (think ripe, green mangoes and festive coconuts) as escort card holders as seen with these granny smiths. Photos via The Knot

Create your own favors like these bright personalized min jars filled with citrus goodness! Photos via The Knot

Flowers are always a beautiful way to bring your theme together.  Try incorporating gorgeous red, yellow and orange lilies, tulips azaleas or roses into your boutonnieres, bouquets and centerpieces Photos via Martha Stewart Weddings

And, one of the the most fun ways to put a little more reggae into the day is by creating a signature drink based on island favorites (rum punch, anyone) or that simply ties in the theme’s color(s).

So, I’m notorious for maxing out the memory on my computer by saving the most random, yet gorgeous pictures I find on the net.  Since the first step is admitting you have a problem, I’ve decided to do that here.

Second step, purge, purge, purge!  Which is exactly what I’ve decided to do.

It makes me a bit uncomfortable hitting the “delete forever/send to trash” button that banishes all my fab finds to the black hole of my computer, so I’ve decided to share them here, where they’ll live on, and inspire for years to come :)

Up first, vintage Martha Stewart Weddings (circa Spring 2009) – bling, bling and more bling!  Oh, and yummy looking candy sticks also – a winning combination on anyday!

Enjoy!

This is creativity at it’s best!  I saw this video over the weekend and couldn’t wait to share it with you all.

The idea is a bit labor intensive, but the final product is genius!  So, unless you have the time for a major DIY project, I would definitely enlist the services of a pro.

This “stop motion” video was created as a Save The Date but you could easily do this for a casual wedding invitation OR  your engagement session.

StopMotion videos are compiled from hundreds of photos and edited into a rockin’ video.  So, you could still use the pictures in the traditional way for your photo album.

I think this is a great “Twofer”… and a unique and creative spin on Save The Dates!

Enjoy the video!

P.S There are hundreds of example os StopMotion videos on YouTube, so just do a quick search for more ideas!

Yesterday I received an invite to preview the new Marchesa 2010 Bridal Collection – and I couldn’t RSVP quick enough!

I’m sure you’ve seen Marchesa’s breathtaking designs strutting down the red carpet – but last year the line expanded into the bridal realm, and thank goodness for that!

Below are a few pieces of eye candy from the new line -and I’ll be sure to document the in person preview later on this month!  Enjoy!

P. S.  Yes, I realize the pink dress doesn’t actually fit in… but I thought I’d throw one in for the “Offbeat Bride” :)
